James Oesi is one of the most interesting figures on the Dutch music scene. With his double bass, traditionally an accompanying instrument, he tours solo and plays in our northern neighbour’s biggest concert halls. With his trio he presents an exciting mix of early and new music for solo double bass, theorbo and bass guitar. On the one hand, the audience gets classics like Händel, Bach and Vivaldi presented in a new guise; on the other hand this sultry trio really lets rip on the South-African jazz of the 1980s and 1990s.
